Job Description
Locums First is looking for a Locum General Practitioner – GP Surgery (GP) to work for a GP practice in Canvey Island. This opportunity suits an experienced GP who is confident managing a broad patient caseload while delivering safe, high-quality primary care within a well-organised clinical environment.
You will deliver a balance of routine and urgent appointments, supported by efficient administrative systems and a collaborative clinical team. The practice offers structured clinics, clear daily workflows and reliable session planning to ensure manageable and productive working days.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering same-day and pre-booked GP appointments
- Assessing and managing both acute and long-term conditions
- Undertaking telephone consultations and clinical triage
- Prescribing and reviewing medications safely
- Reviewing test results, referrals and follow-up actions
- Recording consultations accurately on the clinical system
- Working collaboratively with the wider clinical team
Requirements
- GMC-registered General Practitioner
- Active inclusion on the NHS Performers List
- Recent UK primary care experience
- Strong clinical judgment and risk management skills
- Confident using EMIS, SystmOne or equivalent systems
- Valid medical indemnity and Enhanced DBS
Working Pattern
- Flexible ad-hoc or regular weekly sessions
- Morning and afternoon clinics available
- Long-term and short-term bookings offered
