Job Description

Locums First is looking for Locum General Practitioners in Institute Avenue. This opportunity provides flexible sessional work across multiple primary care services, offering a range of clinical environments suited to GPs seeking autonomy, variety and consistent weekly availability.

You will support local services by delivering evidence-based GP care through urgent access appointments, routine reviews, telephone consultations and clinical triage. Each service provides clear expectations, structured workflows and supportive clinical teams to ensure safe and efficient working conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing urgent and routine GP clinics across different primary care settings
  • Conducting telephone consultations and triage
  • Assessing acute, chronic and undifferentiated presentations
  • Prescribing within scope and handling medication queries
  • Reviewing results, referrals and follow-up actions
  • Recording accurate clinical notes in service-specific systems
  • Working collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams

Requirements

  • GMC-registered GP
  • NHS Performers List inclusion
  • Experience in GP, urgent care or community primary care settings
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new clinical environments
  • Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills
  • Valid indemnity and Enhanced DBS

Working Pattern

  • Fully flexible shifts
  • Weekday, evening or weekend sessions
  • Options for regular ongoing work or ad-hoc cover
