Job Description

Locums First is looking for a GP Practice Nurse – Locum & Ad Hoc Shifts to work for a GP practice in Ashton Under Lyne. This role is ideal for a flexible and clinically confident Practice Nurse who can support treatment room activity, preventative care and long-term condition management within a busy primary care setting.

You will support a range of nursing clinics including routine reviews, immunisation sessions and wound management, working as part of a well-organised multidisciplinary team. The practice offers clear clinical protocols, strong leadership and consistent session planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering treatment room clinics including dressings and wound care
  • Administering adult and childhood immunisations (where trained)
  • Conducting smear tests for cytology-trained nurses
  • Supporting long-term condition management for asthma, COPD and diabetes
  • Completing NHS Health Checks and preventive health assessments
  • Managing results, recalls and clinical follow-ups
  • Maintaining high-quality and compliant clinical records

Requirements

  • NMC-registered Nurse with primary care experience
  • Immunisation and cytology training desirable
  • Confident in treatment room and chronic disease clinics
  • Strong communication and patient engagement skills
  • Experience using EMIS, SystmOne or Vision
  • Enhanced DBS

Working Pattern

  • Flexible ad-hoc or weekly sessions
  • Morning and afternoon clinics available
  • Ongoing and block booking opportunities
