Job Description

Locums First is looking for Locum General Practitioners in Blaenau Gwent. This role offers access to a variety of community-focused and GP-based clinical sessions, giving you the flexibility to choose work that aligns with your experience, preferred pace and weekly schedule.

You will support a range of primary care services by managing autonomous GP clinics, handling urgent care demand, providing routine appointments and completing essential clinical follow-up work. Each service provides clear guidance, structured processes and a well-managed clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Running independent GP clinics across community and primary care settings
  • Managing acute, routine and complex presentations
  • Conducting telephone triage to support urgent access demand
  • Prescribing safely within clinical guidelines
  • Completing results, medication reviews and referral actions
  • Maintaining detailed and compliant clinical documentation
  • Collaborating effectively with local clinical teams

Requirements

  • GMC-registered General Practitioner
  • NHS Performers List registration
  • Primary care or community health experience
  • Strong diagnostic reasoning and patient communication
  • Ability to work confidently in varied services
  • Valid indemnity and Enhanced DBS

Working Pattern

  • Flexible sessions across weekdays, evenings or weekends
  • Opportunities for regular or ad-hoc bookings
  • Suitable for both short-term and long-term arrangements
